Looking for some accessories to add to your bike? Check out some of our awesome bike fenders! Bike fenders are a great addition to any bike, with both a great function, as well as adding some extra style to the bike! Many people think that fenders are a nice accessory to make your bike look nice. However, they actually do serve an awesome purpose besides looking great! Fenders help prevent anything that you may pick up while riding from flying up and onto you and your bike, the biggest of these being water. When you ride through a puddle of water, your bike tire picks up a lot of the water and, because of the momentum your wheel has, it sprays the water all over the underside of your frame, and even all over your back! If you have ever been riding your bike and saw someone with a big streak of dirt or wetness right down the middle of their back, that means they were riding without bike fenders. The bike fenders basically cover the whole wheel so when that water and dirt get picked up by your tire, they just spray the underside of the fenders and not all over you! This also makes it easier to clean your bike, as most of the grime will be on the underside of the bike fenders, instead of all over the frame of your bike. Cyclists who live in places where there are heavy rains like Washington, Oregon, or the UK, it is almost a must to have fenders on your bike to prevent the water from spraying up everywhere. If you live in a place with drier conditions, then you may not need them as much, but they always do add a bit of stylish flare to any bike, regardless of the functionality.
What sorts of bikes can I put fenders on?
Fenders can be put onto just about any bicycle. However, certain kinds of bicycles require special kinds of fenders. These bike fenders were specially designed to work with our Tower electric bikes, as well as other similar cruiser style bikes. But these fenders will not work on all bikes. Mountain bikes, for example, use very small fenders that are typically made of thin plastic and only cover a small area of the tire, unlike these which cover almost the whole tire. They are usually zip tied or strapped to the fork bridge on the front suspension. Road bikes, or similar hybrid style bikes that use 700c wheels need specialized, “skinny” fenders, as the spacing for the fenders and wheels is much narrower than on a beach cruiser style bike.
How do these fenders fit onto my Tower Ebike?
The bike fenders mount directly to the frame in the front and rear of the bike right above the tires. The bike fenders are suspended above the tires and wheels with long arms that mount right where the wheels would attach to the frame.
